Shiro Sagisu (鷺巣詩郎) - Shiro's Songbook 2.5:Tribute to Cool! (2001)

Tracklist:
1. JUPIER Tribute to COOL
2. You are Not Mine to Hold
3. Sing the Blues
4. Fly 2000
5. Sweet Inspiration
6. Why Pretend
7. JUPIER Tribute to COOL (Acid Jazz Remix)
8. Sing a Song

This album is a bit of a hit and miss for me personally. I'm not fond of track #2, but I like track #3, #5, and #8 a lot. So it's up in the air as to whatever your own personal opinion is, but if you've enjoyed some of the tracks from the last albums that I've posted you might like this as well.

Only two more "Shiro's Songbooks" to go!

Mellow Orange - Last Resort EP (2009)

Tracklist:
1 - Meditation
2 - Cool Style
3 - Feel Good Music (feat. Othello)
4 - Refined Devine (Revisited)
5 - Think Twice (feat. Navery)
6 - Ballroom Swing
7 - For the Love (Revisited)(feat. Braille)
8 - The Underground

Do you like Nujabes? Nomak? The Sound Providers? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you'll probably like this as well. It's a very short album, but a very well done one nonetheless. File size is small, but it's in good quality VBR. Good stuff comes in small packages, and this is just one of those examples. Nothing quite 'life-changing' to me on this album, but it makes for a very nice listen nonetheless. Check it out!!

This was the second Shiro Sagisu album, which you can guess by the title was just a remix album of the first album! So if you liked the first album and want to hear a slightly altered production on some of the songs, here you go. Once again, we have amazing lyrics with amazing voices bringing together amazing songs as always.

I realized that I should have perhaps given a better introduction of just who Shiro Sagisu is, as I don't think many know him. Before making these vocal albums, Shiro Sagisu was responsible for composing and producing video game music (Final Fantasy 6(3 in Europe and N.A. Grand Finale orchestral soundtrack) and anime soundtracks, which he still currently does (Bleach is perhaps the most well-known current anime that he is producing and composing for). Of course I have mentioned that he was responsible for the Neon Genesis Evangelion soundtracks, which is where he met up with Loren, Mash, and Hazel Fernandez. They were called together for the End of Evangelion movie soundtrack, and subsequently produced the VOX Evangelion soundtrack, which I think I might as well rip and upload here as well while I'm at it.

Nevertheless, this is a mixture of British vocals with Japanese production. Hope some of you at least are enjoying it!

04. Chinatown Chill
05. The Paper
06. Vices
07. Daddy
08. Join the Club
09. D.I. Luv
10. Anti Swagger
11. Like that
12. Creepin
13. S.EX. (Suff Experiment)
14. Isley Interlude
15. Sip Liquor
16. High Life
17. One for Rawls
18. Suff in China
19. Chocolate Mountain
20. LottaHydro

This is sure an interesting album! It's quite short at about 37 minutes, and it's made up of mostly samples. Some I like, some I don't care for, but it is a very interesting combination of music in all. Some of the beats are worth the download alone in my opinion, with tracks like Join the Club. Either way, check it out and see which samples you like the most!

PS: Oddly at the end of track #18 "Suff in China" is an except of women speaking in Japanese rather than Chinese (I guess Suff Daddy wasn't aware of it?). They say ”あたしたちの秘密だよ hahaha" which means basically it's our secret hahaha for those interested.

   12.JUST WANNA THANK YOU(master)
   13.WINTER BLUE
   14.SONGBOOK
   15.STUCK ON ME

The first of the Shiro Sagisu albums. This album is heavily influenced by the End of Evangelion film, including the perhaps infamous song Thanatos from the ending of the film. Nevertheless, the music selection on this album is wonderful. It's bluesy, jazzy, soulful, gospel-ish with an R&B flavour. Much like the Shiro's Songbook 2 that I posted a while back. I personally love the song Thanatos of course (I'm a huge Evangelion fan) but the song "Eye to Eye" also stands out as a beautifully written and performed song. Deep meanings behind the lyrics make this CD a great listen even 10 years later! Check it out

PS: I have the FULL Shiro Sagisu discography which I'll be uploading slowly here, maybe a few albums a week. There aren't many, but I also have the Lauren and Mash albums to accompany them all. Took a lot of time and money to buy all these CDs as nobody has them uploaded online, so I hope you all enjoy!!

This is an independent underground mixtape with a kind of jazzy and mellow feel to it. It does contain a couple tracks in Japanese, which I usually tend to steer away from because I believe half of hip hop is understanding the lyrics and message behind the song, but nevertheless you can enjoy the beat and rhyming! This is probably an exclusive not found on other blogspots, so enjoy!!
