Mash's first album from back in 1996! Dunno how I managed to find it, but I did and now you can listen as well! As you may be able to tell, quite a few songs from this album were lifted and put into Shiro's Songbooks (Bird of Beauty, Day by Day, You and I, etc). Nevertheless this must have been an awesome album when it first launched, because I still jam to it almost 14 years later! Timeless music, check it out.

The other Evangelion VOX and Shiro's Songbook singer, Mash, made this solo album back in 99. 10 years ago, as crazy as it may seem! Anyway, this album feels a bit more upbeat than Loren's album, though both are good in their own way. Take a listen! It's free!!

Loren - Up All Night (1997)

Tracklist:

1.) Remember
2.) Lights Out
3.) Up All Night
4.) In Too Deep
5.) What Ya Hidin' In Your Brain
6.) Things Ain't What They Used To Be

10.) Interlude
11.) I Feel Fine
12.) Just A Dream
13.) Secret Alphabet
14.) In Too Deep (Live Version)

Loren's solo album with all the tracks, as opposed to Phix Up which was kind of like a single more than an album. Nevertheless, this is a much more soulful and R&B kind of album. You may like it, you may not, but at least you can hear it here!

Loren - Phix Up!! (1997)

Tracklist:

1.) Things Ain't What They Used To Be
2.) Remember
3.) Just A Dream
4.) Tears (radio mix)
5.) Tears (ignorants mix)
6.) Just A Dream (soul mix)
7.) Remember (playback mix)
8.) Things Ain't What They Used To Be (instrumental)

Not much of an album as it's only 4 songs with 4 remixes, but never the less here it is! To me this was a bit disappointing, but there ya go. Be glad you didn't spend money on it if you don't like it!
To those who have forgotten, Loren is one of the singers that worked with Shiro Sagisu for the Evangelion VOX album and the Shiro's Songbook series.

Happy Holidays to all!!

Arguably, the first of the Shiro's Songbook series. This album though is quite like Substantial's new album that I posted last week in that it contains snippets of the Evangelion dialogue throughout the album. This album IS an Evangelion soundtrack, so that's to be expected. Also I know this is a common album to find online, but I thought it was suitable to add along with all the other Shiro Sagisu music. Enjoy!

10.Still Think Different [Just Forget]
11.Sacrifice Ft. DJ Kool Herc [World Without Words]

WOW. Just wow. I was thinking that DJ 411 album was going to make it as the best album of 2009, but then Substantial comes right up at the last minute with this masterpiece. If you don't already know, a lot of talent was put into the soundtrack for the anime show "Samurai Champloo" with names like Fat Jon, Nujabes, and Force of Nature coming through to produce the music. Then Substantial came along and did something which somebody probably should have done a long time ago; create smooth, meaningful, and amazing rhymes to these beats. The result is what I will have to call, the album of 2009.

Sit back relax and enjoy yourself.

My favourite tracks from this album include "Only Love Makes You Stay" as well as "Violette Sky" and "Perfect Life." All nice songs however, so enjoy!

This is my personal favourite out of the Shiro's Songbook series by far. Some of the tracks have a very "Evangelion" feeling to them which is nostalgic to me, but the lyrics and production all seem to just work perfectly on this album to me. It's smooth and mellow and funky and upbeat when it needs to be. Great mix of music, and if you listen to only Shiro's Songbook I would definitely recommend this one to be the best. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
